What is Emsculpt?
Emsculpt is a non-invasive procedure that efficiently builds muscle and burns fat in both men and women. Current body contouring procedures address fat and skin, whereas Emsculpt builds muscle and burns fat for improvement in the tone and shape of the abdomen, buttocks, biceps, triceps and calves.
How it Works
Emsculpt uses High-Intensity Focused Electromagnetic (HIFEM®) technology to induce approximately 20,000 forced muscle contractions per session. These forced contractions, considered supramaximal contractions, are not normally achievable through voluntary muscle action. Supramaximal contractions increase muscle growth and disrupt fat cells in the treated area. In clinical trials, there was a 16% average increase in muscle mass and a 19% average fat reduction after treatment.
Results
Results
Patients begin to feel tangible results right after treatment. Positive results are usually reported two to four weeks after the last session and continue to improve for several weeks following the treatments. While no special diet is required, you are encouraged to eat healthy to help promote and maintain your results.
Frequently Asked Questions
What are emsculpt treatment areas?
Emsculpt is currently suitable for treatment to the abdomen, buttocks, biceps, triceps and calves. This treatment is a great option for patients seeking improvement but would prefer a non-surgical, non-invasive option.
Who are candidates for emsculpt?
Both men and women seeking to improve to the tone and shape of their abdomen or buttocks are good candidates for Emsculpt. Please let your treatment provider know if you have or have had any of the following possible contraindications for treatment:
- Metal or electronic implants in the treatment area
- Cardiac pacemakers
- Implanted defibrillators
- Implanted neurostimulators
- Drug pumps
- Malignant tumor
- Fever
- Hemorrhagic conditions
- Epilepsy
- Recent surgical procedures
- Pregnant or nursing women
How long does the sculpting process take?
Emsculpt treatments are approximately 30 minutes long. Before your first treatment, photos, measurements, and body weight will be taken. Our board-certified dermatologists recommend a minimum of four treatments, with sessions separated by at least two days, depending on your needs. Completing a full treatment series is necessary to maximize treatment efficacy.
Does emsculpt hurt?
During the application, you will feel intense, yet not painful, contractions in the treated area. Emsculpt doesn’t require any recovery time, as it is a non-invasive treatment, and you can typically get back to your daily routine right after treatment.
Can emsculpt help with diastasis recti?
Diastasis Recti is caused by the rectus abdominis muscles in the abdomen separating, leaving a gap between the abdomen muscles that allows your belly to pooch out. This commonly occurs in women who have been pregnant but can also occur in men. Studies have shown that Emsculpt may be helpful to reduce the severity of Diastasis Recti.
