Sweating the Small Stuff? How to Get Rid of Underarm Sweat

by | Oct 30, 2018

Sweating is your body’s natural way of getting rid of toxins and regulating your body’s overall temperature. And although some amount of sweating is normal— especially when you’re overexerting yourself— if you have noticed that you are sweating way above normal, then we have a few different options at Laser & Skin Surgery Center of Northern California to help you get rid of your excessive sweating once and for all. By either using Botox or MiraDry, we can help you combat excessive sweat. Read on to learn more.

Botox

Botox is most popular for its ability to soften fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes and forehead. However, Botox is also used for a variety of other conditions across the body, including to combat underarm sweat. Derived from the botulinum toxin, Botox works to temporarily stop the chemical signals from the nerves in the sweat glands. And when the chemical signals are disrupted, your body’s ability to produce sweat is greatly reduced.

MiraDry

Another unique treatment that we offer is called MiraDry. By reducing excessive sweating by around 80%, MiraDry is extremely popular among our patients. As an FDA approved treatment, MIraDry uses microwave technology to target individual sweat glands without disrupting any of the surrounding tissue in the process. Once your sweat glands have been targeted, your underarms won’t be able to produce as much sweat as they were once able to.

Can you even keep track of how many white t-shirts are ruined because of too much sweat? Sweating excessively isn’t just embarrassing but it’s a complete inconvenience as well. Luckily with these two unique treatments, our doctors at Laser & Skin Surgery Center of Northern California can target your underarms and reduce your body’s ability to produce sweat.
