What is UltraPulse CO2?

UltraPulse is the most powerful CO2 laser in aesthetic medicine. This powerful ablative fractionated CO2 laser can be tailored to match your specific concerns. Active FX dramatically improves skin texture, tone, and fine lines and removes brown spots. Deep FX can lead to dramatic skin tightening and improve deep wrinkles and scars. These treatments can be performed together (Total FX) in a single session to rejuvenate your skin and remove years of photodamage dramatically. SCAAR FX is a powerful, advanced laser technology to treat traumatic, surgical, and acne scars.

How it Works

UltraPulse CO2 fractionated laser resurfacing works by creating thousands of microscopic perforations in the skin, stimulating collagen and elastin fiber production. Because the skin between these perforations is unaffected, healing time is accelerated. Collagen and elastin production leads to skin tightening and improvement in fine lines, deep wrinkles, and skin tone. Skin texture and brown spots are also dramatically improved by the UltraPulse laser. With SCAAR FX, the perforations are deeper, leading to more collagen stimulation and scar remodeling, which can significantly enhance the appearance of scars.

Recovery

UltraPulse CO2 fractionated laser resurfacing can produce dramatic results in a single treatment session. Both topical and oral medication will likely be prescribed to enhance your comfort during the procedure. Healing time from this procedure varies depending on the treatment performed (Active FX, Deep FX, Total FX, SCAAR FX) and the site upon which it is completed. For most patients peeling and crusting have been resolved 7-10 days post-procedure. At this point, the skin has some healing redness (pink) that fades over the next several weeks and may be covered with make-up. You will likely see a dramatic improvement in your skin by 7-10 days post-procedure. Improvements will continue over the next two years as your body produces more collagen and elastin.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the treatment painful?

Most patients describe a very warm sensation during and immediately post-treatment. Topical anesthesia and often oral medications are prescribed to ensure patients are relatively comfortable during their procedure. Keeping the skin cool and moisturized post-procedure will also enhance comfort.

How long will my skin be pink?

Seven to ten days after your laser treatment, peeling and crusting has typically resolved and the underlying smooth skin is pink. The healing redness fades dramatically over the next several weeks but may take several months to fully resolve. Make-up may be used to hide this healing erythema.

How long is the treatment?

Depending on the customized treatment plan you have decided upon, the treatment time can vary between 20 minutes to 1 hour. However, in most cases, you will need to arrive one and a half hours before your scheduled treatment and will want to allow for additional time to rest following your treatment.
